Yeah it was to bad he didn't have the money for the ransom or that his corp/alliance members weren't online or wanted to help him with it. If he had the isk I'm convinced we would have gotten it. Apart from waiting 30min for him trying to get the isk, wasn't much work really. He pretty much cynod into our arms. I believe he even asked "is it ok if I cyno in this system". Was just an opportunity we took.
Well such is piracy in eve, sometimes you just miss out on the isk for various reasons.

Its about as awesome as a "dude I totally stole two billion isk from my corp" thread.
First of all, a Rorqual kill is not all that spectacular. You killed the a ship that was about as helpless as a Freighter.
Furthermore, it took you no work to get the kill. Its not as if you were chasing him for ten systems trying to figure out where he'd cyno next. Its not as if you were able to take down this ship with a frigate or cruiser gang. No lone dictor pilot had to bubble him and tank him while waiting for the back up.
No, instead you ganked someone who was blue to you. A very difficult task seeing as how the pilot in question thought you were friendly.  In addition to this you killed him at one of your POSes, which was shooting at him.
I mean really, wow. You were able to trick a blue into using your POS as a jump stage and kill his Rorqual with the aid of POS guns. Now that I think about it, yeah, your right. Easily the best pirate kill of the year.

This just in, Karlemgne gets the second best yarr of the year by blowing up a hoarder at a gate with his Astarte. 
Dude he wasn't blue to us. And trpla have some weird thing going on with their blue standings, they shoot blue in low sec and get shot by blues quite often, I can't go into details as I simply don't know why its like that, also I cba bothering with alliances and 0.0 drama. I agree it isn't he kill of the year. The thread would have been much better if only told the story cause thats whats nice about it. And the POS brought more harm then help. It dealt almost non dps, and the little it did we had to remote rep the rorqual for the 30min we tried getting a ransom (thats why pos damage [not dps] is so high) But what to do, twinkie is twinkie

And a word about ransom attempts. You should try to make the ransom less than the insurance payout of a particular ship. Certainly, you shouldn't ask for the total "value" of the ship. If you ask for the total value, the pilot you are ransoming is just going to let you kill him tbfh, because his killers get less, and he doesn't have to pay any more than your "ransom."
Two things here, we were in fast, cyno pilot was alive when we got in. He popped just as I locked him, and put scram on rorq.
And don't tell me how to ransom, I know how to do it, and so did the one taking care of it with the rorq pilot. As I said had he 2bill we would have gotten it no doubt.
Anything less then final offer wouldn't have been worth it seeing how many we were in the gang. Lower and I think we all rather have the killmail wrapped around our epeens at the end of the day.
